KINNAPA Development Programme continues to play a vital role in transforming the lives of pastoralists, small-scale farmers, fruit gatherers, and other marginalized groups across Tanzania. Through initiatives focused on education, health, clean water, sanitation, and environmental conservation, the organization is strengthening community resilience and gender equity.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, Paulina Peter Ngurumwa, Executive Director of KINNAPA, emphasized the commitment to uplifting women and girls through education and entrepreneurship, especially in rural and underserved communities.
“We’ve supported girls to access education – some have reached university level. We’ve also provided tailoring machines to women’s centers to help them start income-generating activities. Today, many women are boldly walking into village offices to demand their rights without fear,” said Ngurumwa.
She noted that these achievements are the result of continuous efforts by civil society organizations like KINNAPA, which are working to uphold human rights, promote gender equality, and foster inclusive development.
Communities Witness Change
In community discussions and local dialogues, citizens expressed that women are increasingly aware of their rights and are taking action. Amos Levando, a resident of Arusha, explained:
“Technology has enabled women to understand their rights. We now see them in courts, in politics – but we still need more education in our communities to strengthen this progress.”
Conjesia Peter Mushi, a community activist, urged educated women to share their knowledge and experiences with others:
“Only a few have access to education, but the majority still lack awareness. Those with knowledge should help uplift others and open their eyes to how the world is changing.”
KINNAPA: Action Beyond Words
Although based in Babati District, Manyara Region, KINNAPA implements programs in several parts of the country, working closely with government authorities, partner organizations, and local communities to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.
The organization focuses on:
- Civic education and human rights awareness
- Economic empowerment of women and youth
- Environmental protection and sustainable natural resource use
- Basic health services and improved sanitation
At a time of accelerating social and economic transformation, KINNAPA remains a voice of hope for women and girls seeking to claim their space in the development of Tanzania.
